Electronics firm TCL Corp said that its second-quarter loss had widened mainly because of its unprofitable television unit.

The company, in which Royal Philips Electronics NV holds a 6.3 per cent stake, forecast a loss for the first nine months of the year.

The net loss was 607.3 million yuan (US$76 million), compared with a loss of 365.4 million yuan (US$43.2 million) a year earlier.
