Hong Kong Disneyland will be ready to offer annual passes around the National Day Golden Week holidays and will step up its promotional efforts targeting mainland tourists.

The promotions will include meeting travel trade partners and playing movie clips introducing the theme park's programmes and facilities on tourist buses.

Disneyland Managing Director Bill Ernest announced the park's plans yesterday amid its first anniversary celebrations, which were affected by rain.

Last week, Ernest conceded that the park had failed to meet its target of 5.6 million visitors in its first year, though the number had crossed 5 million. It received 1 million visitors in summer alone, for which 60,000 sets of passes were issued.

Ernest, however, didn't specify the expected number of visitors in the second year, saying it was commercially a sensitive information and the park's performance should be evaluated by other factors too.
