Modernization is key for TCM development in Guangxi

The modernization of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) is vital for the TCM industry development in Guangxi, experts said at the Ninth International Congress on Ethnopharmacology held from August 23 to 25 in Nanning, capital of Southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Guangxi TCM enterprises lack competitiveness on the global market despite of owning characteristic TCM resource advantages, experts said.

Statistics show that there are over 4,600 kinds of herbal species in Guangxi, ranking second in the country. Among the over 400 kinds of TCM material currently in common use in the country, over 70 mainly come from Guangxi.
