The Travel Industry Council has suspended a local tour guide for 14 days after he abandoned a group of mainland tourists at Kowloon City pier when they failed to meet the required shopping quota last Saturday. The decision was taken at an urgent meeting yesterday.

The concerned travel agent Kam Sing International Travel Agency had also been issued a warning letter.

This has been the latest incident of ill-treatment and malpractice committed by local tour guides and travel agents to mainland tourists.
