New opportunities

Local hotel investors, such as Mo and Mok, are all looking for new investment opportunities outside Dongguan.

"Although everything is still fine now, I already feel the pressure," Mo says. "New investors should carefully evaluate whether they have the ability to make the existing cake even bigger."

Mo is now busy preparing for his new five-star Gladden Hotel in Jiangmen, which forms a triangle with Guanghou and Dongguan.

During the past year, Dongguan's millionaires and billionaires have been opening hotels in other cities in Guangdong Province, such as Huizhou, Heyuan and Yangjiang.
