Shaanxi makes blueprint for auto industry

Northwest China's Shaanxi Province will make a great effort to develop the automotive industry during the eleventh Five-Year Program (2006-10), especially above-15-ton heavy trucks and chassis, high-grade large buses, low-chassis city buses, economy sedans, electric and hybrid vehicles.

Shaanxi Automobile Group, the leading automaker in Shaanxi, realized a production value of over eight billion yuan (US$1 billion) during the first eleven months of 2006 and met the 2006 sales target for 30,000 heavy-duty vehicles. The group ranked fourth among heavy truck manufacturers in terms of production and sales.

Shaanxi will focus on development in eight fields of the equipment manufacturing industry, including aircraft, auto, digital-control machine-tool, engineering machinery, electronics, communications equipments and special equipments.
