Aluminum Corp of China Ltd, also commonly known as Chalco, the listed arm of the nation's biggest aluminum maker, expects to list yuan-denominated A shares on the Shanghai Stock Exchange by the end of March or early April, a senior official said yesterday.

"If everything goes well, we expect to list on the domestic market in about three months," said Zhang Qing, corporate affairs manager, on the phone from Beijing, according to Bloomberg News.

China wants companies such as PetroChina Co and China Life Insurance Co that don't trade shares in Shanghai and Shenzhen to list their shares on domestic markets that are now dominated by smaller, state-owned manufacturers. Shanghai's benchmark index almost doubled last year, encouraging Hong Kong-traded Chinese companies, such as Chalco, to seek domestic listings.
