Aviation: Profit takeoff

Hainan Airlines Co, the fourth biggest Chinese carrier which is partly owned by United States billionaire George Soros, said it probably made a profit in 2006 as it carried more passengers and cargo.

The airline posted a loss of 215.8 million yuan (US$28 million), or 0.30 yuan a share, in 2005, it said in a statement to the Shanghai stock exchange yesterday.
