Insurance: Axa gets branch nod in Guangdong

Axa Asia Pacific Holdings Ltd, a unit of France's biggest insurer, received regulatory approval to open a life insurance branch in Foshan, Guangdong Province, its fourth in China.

Axa-Minmetals Assurance Co, a venture between China Minmetals Corp, the nation's biggest state-owned metals trader, Melbourne-based Axa Asia and France's Axa SA, was given the license by the China Insurance Regulatory Commission. The license "supports our further expansion into the China market," Axa Asia Chief Executive Officer Andrew Penn said yesterday.
