Just days before the Shanghai opening, White met with China's Vice-Minister of Public Security Zhang Xinfeng, who said the government is determined to standardize China's forensic technology.

Also a few days ago, some 300 Chinese forensic scientists attended an AB training session in Sanya,HainanProvince. Between 120 to 150 forensic centers in China are now equipped with AB technology. White said this number will rise to 200 in the next one to two years.
According to Zhang Ruinian, AB's chief in China, the company is now a major player in the field in China. About 80 percent of the forensic centers in China are the company's clients.

White also sees huge business potential in many other areas.

The company, headquartered in Foster City, California, has started an early-stage cooperation with China Inspection and Quarantine Bureau to establish the country's first standardized methods to test hundreds of pesticide residues in food using liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry.

This project is expected to help China in its effort to improve food safety for the domestic and international food markets.

Also in cooperation with the Ministry of Public Security, AB is helping to set up China's first forensic database as well as provide technical support.
