QFIIs increases share-holding in 1st quarter

Qualified foreign institutional investors (QFIIs) increased their holdings in China's stock markets by just over 4 billion yuan (US$519 milllion) in the first three months of 2007, quarterly reports of Chinese listed companies show.

A total of 1,028 Chinese listed companies have so far filed their quarterly reports. QFIIs were among the top-ten investors in 110 companies with tradable shares valued at 9.62 billion yuan.

QFIIs hold shares worth 2.19 billion yuan in the machinery sector, 1.24 billion in the mining sector, 936 million yuan in the metals sector, 824 million yuan in petro-chemicals and 765 million yuan in the transportation sector.

At the end of 2006 QFIIs were among the top-ten investors in 51 companies with tradable-share valued at 4.692 billion yuan.
