China's logistics sector realized 15.6 trillion yuan (2.02 trillion U.S. dollars) in business turnover in the first three months of this year, a growth of 24.2 percent over the year-earlier level, sources with the National Development and Reform Commission said on Saturday.

The growth was mainly shored up by delivery, processing and packaging businesses, the sources added.

Of the total business turnover, 13.7 trillion yuan (1.78 trillion U.S. dollars), or 88 percent, was recorded on industrial goods, up 2.8 trillion yuan (363.6 billion U.S. dollars) or 25.2 percent year-on-year. The proportion was 0.8 percentage points higher over the year-earlier period.

Between January and March, the logistics sector generated 361.6 billion yuan (46.96 billion U.S. dollars) in added value, up 16.7 percent.
