Competition in bus market heats up

With the rapid economic development in China and the upcoming Beijing Olympic Games, bus manufacturers are all preparing to compete at a higher level.

Some like Yutong and Golden Dragon are going to upgrade their parts and accessories, and production lines. Yutong is also keen on further developing the Russian bus market. Other bus makers are turning to enhance their variety of products.

Henan Shaolin Auto Co Ltd, which topped the Chinese medium bus market with an annual increase of 30 percent, will enter the intercity and touring coach market. It also completed the first period of its coach-making project, which cost one billion yuan (US$130.2 million), and has an annual production capacity of 3,000 coaches. After completing this entire project next year, Shaolin hopes its total product value will rise to 1.5 billion yuan (US$195.35 million) per year.
