DaimlerChrysler, which has a 24 percent share in Beiqi Foton Motor Co Ltd, is negotiating with Beijing Automotive Industry Holding Co Ltd, parent of Beiqi Foton, to build a truck factory together.

Meanwhile, Volvo is seeking cooperation with Dongfeng Motor Corporation and plans to operate Dongfeng as the fourth brand under its name.

French automaker Renault is waiting for the results of the negotiation between Volvo and Dongfeng to see what its next step is.

Fiat is expecting the success of a joint venture between Iveco, its unit, and Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp this year. The joint venture will have a 67 percent stake in Chongqing Hongyan Motor, which will produce an Iveco heavy truck model called the Stralis in China.
