New auto roro dock established in Shanghai

The Shanghai Port Authority announced that the Shanghai Waigaoqiao port zone is establishing a large professional auto roll-on-roll-off dock, which will begin operating at the end of this year.

 

Luo Wenbin, an official in charge of project construction of the port zone, said the auto roro dock has an annual transportation capacity of 800,000 autos, and can provide professional services to reduce logistics costs.

 

The China Association of Automobile Manufactures said the Chinese occupy 8.7 percent of global auto consumption. It added China has already become the second-largest consumer of cars in the world and the third-biggest producer of cars. The expanding auto market in China stimulates the development of auto logistics, especially auto roro transportation, a major auto shipping method in the world.
