The Ministry of Commerce said yesterday that 248 foreign-invested companies in the hotel and catering sector were established in the first four months of the year, down 26 percent from the same period last year. Contracted foreign investment in the sector fell by 28 percent to $650 million in the same period. Total retail sales in the sector grew 18 percent to 388 billion yuan.
