The gas pipeline is expected to run from Horgas of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region to Guangzhou and Shanghai, with an annual capacity of transmitting 30 billion cubic meters of gas.

The project, involving 7,700 kilometers of pipelines, will cost 102.1 billion yuan. CNPC plans to begin construction in December 2008 and complete a section from Zhongwei City in the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region to Guangzhou by December 2010.
