Henan's auto industry takes off

According to Henan Province's 11th Five-Year Program (2006-2010), the auto industry will become one of the main industries of Henan.

By 2010, the sales revenue of Henan's auto industry is projected to reach 220 billion yuan (US$28.8 billion), and the industrial added value of the auto industry will reach 66 billion yuan (US$8.6 billion), 13.5 percent of Henan's total industrial added value.

The province also hopes to have an annual production capacity of 700,000 vehicles, 400,000 farming vehicles as well as 3.5 million motorcycles by 2010. Meanwhile, it will establish a bus base, a passenger car base and a heavy truck base depending on agreements with Yutong, Zhengzhou Nissan, and YTO Group Corporation.
