China has become the world's third-largest silver producer by putting out a record of 7,000 tons of silver (including reclaimed silver) in 2006, and is also a traditional big country in terms of silver consumption and export, with 2,800 tons exported last year.

At a press conference of the Sixth China International Silver Conference, August 21, An Huimin, deputy director of the China General Chamber of Commerce, said that China's fast-rising silver industry has put it among the rank of most important silver suppliers in the world, and some foreign firms are seeking for cooperation with China on silver mining.
