Macao's expenditure-based gross domestic product (GDP) grew 30.9 percent year-on-year in the third quarter, according to official statistics issued on Monday.

The figures released by the government-run Statistics and Census Services (SCS) showed that the city's GDP amounted to 31.43 billion patacas (US$3.93 billion) in the third quarter.

The SCS attributed the strong year-on-year GDP growth in the third quarter to "a satisfactory performance" of the gaming and tourism sector, with the gross gaming receipts growing 45 percent and visitors' spending rising 22.4 percent year on year.
