China exports 7.27m motorcycles in first 11 months

China motorcycle exports reached 7.27 million units in the first 11 months, up 22.84 percent over the same period in 2006, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM) said in a report.

The statistics, which covered 91 motorcycle manufacturers, reported all-terrain vehicle and motor engines exports stood at 235,700 units and 2.32 million units, up 25.47 percent and 58.53 percent, respectively.

By the end of last month, the manufacturers had earned US$3.6 billion in foreign exchange, up 27.36 percent year-on-year.

The top five motorcycle export types, including 125cc, 100cc and 110cc, stood at 6.66 million units from January to November and accounted for 91.63 percent of the total.

CAAM forecast that output and sales of motorcycles could both exceed 25 million units this year.
