China's trade in electronic information products climbed 23.5 percent year-on-year in 2007 to $804.7 billion, according to the Ministry of Information Industry (MOII).

The rate was 9.8 percentage points lower than in 2006, the MOII said in a statement posted on its web site on Tuesday.

Exports rose by 26.3 percent to $459.5 billion and imports jumped 20 percent to $345.2 billion. These totals accounted for 37.7 percent and 36.1 percent, respectively, of China's total exports and imports.

Enterprises with foreign financing contributed significantly to the industry's trade. Solely foreign-funded companies and Sino-foreign joint ventures accounted for 83.6 percent of the total exports. Further, processing trade remained the chief type of trade.
