Auto electronic equipment market to hit 240b yuan in 2011

The market for electronic automobile equipment in China will grow by 22.5 percent year-on-year to 240 billion yuan in sales by 2011, predicts CCID Consulting Co Ltd.

More high-end on-board electronic products, such as on-board DVD players, on-board GPS navigation systems, on-board televisions, and on-board MP3 players, will be in higher demand, said Yang Hong, general manager of Shenzhen Hangsheng Electronics Co Ltd, one of China's leading automotive electronics manufacturers and exporters.

There will be explosive growth in the niche market for on-board recreation products, predicted Yang, adding his company is going to invest heavily in research and development.

"On-board navigation systems and televisions will make major breakthroughs in 2008. The Olympics is coming, and people don't want to miss the live events. On-board Digital TV will make a good option." Yang said.

Car body electronics is another 'big cake.' "Some of the latest auto body electronic products, including traction control systems, braking assist systems, adaptive steering, and tire pressure monitoring systems, will be the new focus," said Li Shuchong, general manager of CCID Consulting Co Ltd's semi-conductor industry research center.
