Air France connects two nations
By Lu Haoting (China Daily)
Updated: 2008-04-14 10:43 Air France was the first European airline to provide Chinese interpreters for passengers on board its flights to and from China in 1997. There is one interpreter on every flight, who can be recognized by his or her distinctive grey uniform and a badge marked "interpreter" in Chinese. Over 10 years ago, Air France was also the first foreign airline to serve instant noodles on board. Instant noodles, now available on many other foreign airlines as well, has been one of the most popular food choices among Chinese travelers on long-haul flights. "We have to be global in our network, but we also have to think locally about our customers," Legre says. "If you want to be successful in China, you have to please the Chinese customers and their expectations are not the same as Westerners'."
