China, Egypt witness potential on medical cooperation

Updated: 2008-06-06 14:14 Participants of a Sino-Egyptian conference on hepatology expressed their confidence and voiced their willingness on Thursday to further promote medical cooperation between China and Egypt. Addressing the opening session of the conference grouping dozens of medical experts from the two countries, First Secretary of the Chinese embassy in Egypt Su Pingping said there exists a great potential for the two sides to boost cooperation in the field of medicine and medical treatment. It's of great significance for the two sides to enhance medical cooperation since it will contribute to the medical development of the developing countries, said Su. Gamal Abdallah, the Egyptian organizer of the meeting, told Xinhua that the two sides have made great progress in exchange of medical technology, particularly in the field of hepatology. Zhao Limin, leader of the Chinese delegation, said at the one-day meeting that the two sides eye on closer ties based on the following aspects: medicine import and export, bilateral academic exchange. In the coming future, the two sides would put more emphasis on exchange and cooperation of medical technology, said Zhao. According to the organizers, the annual Sino-Egyptian hepatology conference has become an important forum for experts of the two countries to discuss hepatology and strengthen bilateral medical cooperation since it was launched in 2002.
