Time right to boost trade with Mongolia

Visiting Chinese Vice-President Xi Jinping said in Ulan Bator on Friday that China and Mongolia have a great opportunity to take bilateral trade and economic cooperation to a higher level.

Xi, who is in Mongolia on a three-day official visit, was speaking at a trade forum attended by about 300 businesspeople from the two countries.

Trade and economic cooperation are important driving forces for the sustainable and healthy development of China-Mongolia relations and governments and business leaders should seize every opportunity, he said.

Xi put forward five proposals for upgrading trade and economic cooperation.

He said the two countries should seek common interests based on their own development strategies and also deepen cooperation in key areas, such as the exploitation of mineral resources and the development of infrastructure.

Also, governments should provide platforms and services for companies to carry out exchanges, and both sides should work to create a favorable environment for bilateral cooperation, especially within the framework of multilateral organizations.

Radnaabazar Rash, Mongolia's roads, transport and tourism minister, also spoke at the forum.

He said China is an important cooperative partner of Mongolia and the two countries have great potential for cooperation in various fields including mining, infrastructure, agriculture, environmental protection and tourism.
