Neusoft: the bell-weather of China's software industry
(China Daily)
Updated: 2008-10-13 13:56 Q: What's the developing strategy of new Neusoft in the following 10 or 20 years? And how can you carry out the strategy? A: Our mission is to be a global leading IT solutions & service provider. It's our first time we've described ourselves as a “global leading provider” in our 17-year history. In fact, “leading” means first-class rather than the first in Chinese. If it means the first, we have great chance to be the first as well. First, the local market in China is an emerging one which develops most rapidly. This is an opportunity for us because Neusoft is a local company. We are more competitive than other new multinational enterprises since we have a perennial accumulation including infrastructure, brand effect, as well as a group of clients. Second, we know that software is becoming an important part of manufacturing industry. China's manufacturing will fuel the development of software and service industry because of massive application of software in cell phones, TV sets, vehicles as well as cnc lathe (computerized numerical control lathe). Also, China's manufacturing is not only for itself and its local companies but also for the whole world. From the perspective of human resources, Neusoft may be 2 or 3 times larger than now in the future. We have 14,000 employees now and may have 30,000 to 50,000 in the future. In case of being restricted by human resources, we built 3 institutions with 23,000 undergraduates. And every year, there are 5,000 students graduating from these colleges. So we have formulated a long-term strategy for our further development. We also use our marketing and service network in both China and other countries like Japan which is our main market. In China, we have over 40 branches covering 8 areas. Also, we will enlarge the scale in Japan. The evaluation criterion in future is vague. As an American company, we are in the top 25 of the most rapidly developing service companies. We are already a “leading” company in their opinion. But our scale is not big enough now. Q: 2008 is the 30th year of China's reform and opening-up. You have experienced a lot during this process since you founded such a large IT enterprise. How do you feel about the reform and opening-up? A: In my opinion, the past 30 years is the first time that everyone's energy can be released and gathered into a strong power which promotes China's reform. And this has never appeared in China's history. The government creates a platform for everyone. Every Chinese works really hard for himself, his family and his future. The reform and opening-up has many reasons. But the most important one, in my opinion, is to respect individuality and let everyone become involved in this economic reform. Letting every Chinese have this passion is the most important reform during the process of China's reform and opening-up. The so-called reform and opening-up is opening a window for Chinese people so that everyone can realize his dream rather than opening China's door to foreign countries. Everyone has a dream and strives for the dream. I think this is the power and energy of China's economy. So I think the greatest achievement of the past 30 years is making every Chinese blend into the so-called socialist market economy and let everyone have a dream. And everyone's dream will go towards the whole world when China becomes a part of the world. (For more biz stories, please visit Industries)
