Jiangsu's GDP grows 13% to reach $319b in Jan-Sept period

Jiangsu province's gross domestic product (GDP) grew 13.1 percent year on year to 2.18 trillion yuan ($319.27 billion) in the first three quarters of this year, the provincial bueau of statistics said in a report on Saturday.

Between January and September, retail sales in Jiangsu rose 23.9 percent to 705.72 billion yuan, up 6.7 percentage points year-on-year and 1.9 percentage points higher than the national average.

The export and import volume of Jiangsu in the January to September period reached $303.47 billion, up 19.9 percent from the same time last year.

The exports were valued at $180.6 billion, up 23.4 percent from the previous year. However, the 23.4 percent year-on-year export growth was 5 percentage points lower than last year.
