Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co Ltd, a major Chinese bus maker, saw its export revenue up more than 90 percent year-on-year to $200 million this year, despite the gloom gripping the global auto market.
"We are not developing overseas markets like nomads just trying our fortune with rifles and spears," said Zhu Guoqiang, vice general manager of the company's overseas sales division. "We are plowing the markets like farmers, to sow in the spring and harvest in the autumn in the pursuit of a steady turnover." The company has a staff of 100 to manage its overseas expansion and its vehicles have met international vehicle standards like Russia's GOST (gosudarstvennyy standard) and Australia's ADR (Australian Design Rules) for imports. Its overseas management system has covered sales, marketing, after-sales service, product certification, international financing, customer relations and logistics, enabling it to succeed in foreign markets.
