King Long's coach export revenue surges 90%

Xiamen King Long United Automotive Industry Co Ltd, a major Chinese bus maker, saw its export revenue up more than 90 percent year-on-year to $200 million this year, despite the gloom gripping the global auto market.

With a proactive sales strategy, the Xianmen-based coach maker started its overseas business in 2001, with products available in 40 countries and regions by 2005.

"We are not developing overseas markets like nomads just trying our fortune with rifles and spears," said Zhu Guoqiang, vice general manager of the company's overseas sales division. "We are plowing the markets like farmers, to sow in the spring and harvest in the autumn in the pursuit of a steady turnover."

The company has a staff of 100 to manage its overseas expansion and its vehicles have met international vehicle standards like Russia's GOST (gosudarstvennyy standard) and Australia's ADR (Australian Design Rules) for imports.

Its overseas management system has covered sales, marketing, after-sales service, product certification, international financing, customer relations and logistics, enabling it to succeed in foreign markets.
