China Mobile to speed up Shanghai 3G network construction

Updated: 2009-02-27 18:45 China Mobile's Shanghai subsidiary plans to accelerate the construction of its TD-SCDMA network in the city by building over 800 base stations this year, and will ensure that the network has full coverage of the Shanghai World Expo Park Area by 2010.
The company also plans to start the trials of TD-LTE mobile broadband technology in the Expo Park by 2010. By the end of last year, the homegrown third-generation (3G) standard had attracted 75,600 subscribers in Shanghai. China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology granted a TD-SCDMA 3G license to China Mobile on Jan 7. (For more biz stories, please visit Industries)
