A recent survey showed that over 70 percent of women entrepreneurs in China are pleased or very pleased with their business performance.

The survey result is shared by the All-China Women's Federation Vice President Zhen Yan, who is attending the 14th APEC Women Leaders Network (WLN) Meeting in Singapore on Tuesday.

She said that there are now 29 million women entrepreneurs in China, making up roughly 20 percent of all China's entrepreneurs.

According to Zhen, 95 percent of these women's businesses are in medium or small size, 45 percent are in service sector, and nearly 60 percent of their employees are women.

She said that since the global financial crisis, many women entrepreneurs are quick in changing their business strategies accordingly.

"They turn their eyes to the domestic market of 1.3 billion people, make use of the government's supportive policies and take flexible and diversified forms of operation," she said, "Most of their businesses have survived and remain robust."

Zhen added that the All-China Women's Federation, as a non- governmental organization, has dedicated to representing and safeguarding women's rights and interests, and made it its priority task to help women find employment or set up their own business.

"We have launched a project of mentoring girl university graduates to start their own business," she said, adding that the project is to encourage women entrepreneurs to provide internships for girl university graduates, and it aims to set up 5,000 such internship bases.

Themed "Women and Sustainable Development in APEC," the two-day WLN meeting is a part of the APEC 2009 meetings, and it draws more than 600 women leaders in business, academia, government and non- government organizations from 21 APEC economies this year.
