Mainland sends 2nd batch of relief materials to Taiwan

Updated: 2009-08-18 16:09 The Chinese mainland will send its second batch of disaster relief materials by air to typhoon Morakot-hit Taiwan on Tuesday afternoon, a mainland official in charge of Taiwan affairs said. The materials include more than 10,000 sleeping bags, 10,000 blankets and 1,000 sterilizing machines, said Wang Yi, director of the Taiwan Work Office of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, at the Beijing Capital International Airport Tuesday morning.
Wang Yi also expressed his deep sympathy for Taiwan compatriots on their losses in the worst typhoon disaster in the past 50 years. Chinese mainland sent its first batch of 100 prefabricated houses to Taiwan on Monday. (For more biz stories, please visit Industries)
