China will continue opening up its agriculture and promoting international exchanges and cooperation in a broader and deeper way, Vice Minister of Agriculture Chen Xiaohua said at a press conference Saturday.

The ministry is studying and improving regulations guiding foreign investment in China's agriculture, Chen said, adding the regulations are in line with the national situation and international standards.

The ministry will take the interests of farmers into full consideration when introducing foreign capital to agriculture. It will also enhance management and service to create a transparent and fair market environment, said the official.

The global financial crises has taken a toll on the country's foreign trade of agricultural products, which declined 12 percent in the first seven months this year, he said.

"China has been strongly opposed protectionism, seeking to resolve trade frictions through negotiation and consultation," said Chen.
