Chinese shares gain 4.76% after National Day holiday

Updated: 2009-10-09 16:12 Chinese equities rose 4.76 percent Friday, the first day of trading after the eight-day National Day holiday, driven by gains in overseas markets.
The Shenzhen Component Index gained 594.39 points, or 5.30 percent to close at 11,801.23. Combined turnover rose to 145.52 billion yuan ($21.31 billion) from 108.18 billion yuan on the previous trading day. (For more biz stories, please visit Industries)
