BEIJING - Chinese stocks rallied on Thursday, led by automakers over news that auto sales in China rebounded in August from one year earlier.
The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index went up 32.90 points, or 1.25 percent to closed at 2,655.78.
The Shenzhen Component Index expanded 146.41 points, or 1.29 percent, to end at 11,465.15.
Combined turnover shrank to 277.83 billion yuan ($40.86 billion) from 280.51 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Gainers outnumbered losers by 804 to 69 in Shanghai and 971 to 59 in Shenzhen.
