Wen raises six-point proposal to boost China-ASEAN ties

HANOI - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao on Friday offered a six-point proposal to further enhance the strategic partnership between China and Southeast Asian nations.

The first is to push forward the sustainable, sound and rapid development of economic relations and trade between the two sides, Wen told a summit held in Hanoi with leaders from the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

The two sides should also improve infrastructure interconnectivity, deepen financial integration, promote agro-economic cooperation and increase investment in sustainable development, Wen added.

Meanwhile, the premier proposed that China and ASEAN further expand exchanges between the peoples of the two sides to strengthen mutual trust and friendship.
