Chinese shares close up 1% Wednesday

BEIJING - Chinese shares closed up Wednesday with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 29.34 points, or 1 percent, to 2,948.48.

The Shenzhen Component Index increased 178.27 points, or 1.41 percent, to 12,845.53.
