Chinese shares open lower Wednesday

BEIJING -- Chinese shares opened slightly lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.21 percent at 2,846.72.

The Shenzhen Component Index dropped 0.23 percent at the opening to 12100.89.
