BEIJING - China intends to create 45 million new jobs for urban residents and 40 million jobs for rural laborers over the next five years, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security said Wednesday.
To achieve the above goals, the government will adopt more active policies including measures to encourage entrepreneurship, promote employment for the needy and strengthen vocational training as well as create a unified, standardized labor market to promote employment services.
During the country's 11th Five-Year Plan (2006-2010) period, 57.71 million new jobs were created for urban residents and 45 million jobs for rural workers with the registered urban unemployment rate at 4.1 percent.
