With inflation rates rising, monopolized industries' overcharging has put more pressure on people, People's Daily said.

The newspaper said that China's logistics expenses for the first half of the year totaled 3.7 trillion yuan ($576 billion), increasing 18.5 percent year-to-year.

The logistics cost in China is 1-2 times higher than that of the world average, mainly because of arbitrary charges on highways.

The paper quoted a 2011 information blueprint as saying that the speed of China's broadband is only one third of that of the global average level, while the fee is three times higher.

People's Daily said the government should enhance regulation of monopolized enterprises to make their cost more transparent and pricing more reasonable.
