BEIJING - China's consumer quality watchdog said Thursday that Dongfeng Honda Automobile Co has decided to recall 2,270 Civic sedans manufactured between Sept 26 and Nov 17.
Dongfeng Honda said workers forgot to install self-locking nuts in the steering boxes of some vehicles. Therefore, the steering wheels are likely to rotate right when they are turned far left, posing safety risks, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) said in a statement on its website.
The automaker promised to check all affected vehicles, replace defective parts free of charge and eliminate other risks.
Franchised Dongfeng Honda outlets will notify customers of the recall. Owners can also contact AQSIQ's defective product control center hotlines (010-59799619 and 010-65537365) for more information, the statement said.
