Macao's resident deposits up 3.3% in Nov 2011

MACAO -- Macao's resident deposits in November 2011 increased by 3.3 percent from the previous month to an equivalent of 295.8 billion patacas ($36.97 billion) , according to figures released on Tuesday by the city's Monetary Authority of Macao.
Of the resident deposits, pataca deposits and Hong Kong dollar deposits of the resident deposits grew at respective month-to-month rates of 3.8 percent and 8.5 percent, while other foreign deposits decreased by 9.1 percent, the figures indicated.
As for non-resident deposits, the value declined by 2.1 percent from the previous month to 94.2 billion patacas, of which public sector deposits with local banking sector increased by 2.1 percent to 26.1 billion patacas, according to the Monetary Authority.
As a result, total deposits with the banking sector increased by 2 percent from the previous month to 416.1 billion patacas in last November, with the shares of pataca and Hong Kong dollar in total deposits standing at 21.2 percent and 46.4 percent respectively.
