Measuring at about 60 centimeters long, an arowana is priced at 88,000 yuan ($13,924) at a market in Nanming district of Guiyang city, Southwest China’s Guizhou province on Jan 10, 2012. This kind of fish is popular with customers despite the high price, since the fish’s Chinese name is translated literally as ‘dragon fish’, which associates the fish with fortune and auspicious omens.[Photo/CFP] |
