BEIJING - China holds an positive and open attitude towards discussions of funding plans for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Foreign Ministry spokesman Liu Weimin said on Thursday.

China's position is that all sides should actively implement the consensus reached in 2010 on IMF share reform, so as to radically resolve the problem of a funding shortfall, Liu said at a regular press briefing.

During a telephone conversation between Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Wednesday, Wen said China will aid the IMF and other major international financial agencies.

"We are willing to discuss various funding plans for the IMF with IMF members, in a frank and positive manner," Liu said.
