SVW: 8 million cars

Sino-German joint venture Shanghai Volkswagen produced its 8 millionth car on June 28, just nine months after it made the 7 millionth vehicle.
Established 1985, the joint venture is now the largest car company in China. It has production facilities in Shanghai, and Nanjing, and is building new plants in Yizheng, Jiangsu province and Ningbo, Zhejiang province.
It also has broken ground on a new 50,000-unit facility in Urumqi, Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region.
The New Passat built in SAIC has saw robust sales growth since it hit the market in 2011. The Skoda Superb, Octavia and Fabia have seen combined sales top 700,000 units in China.
