LIMA - Peru is promoting to attract more tourists from China by introducing the country's best tourism sites, Peruvian Trade and Tourism Minister Jose Luis Silva said Friday.
Silva said this during the announcement of the holding of the First International Thermal Tourism Show "Termatalia" 2012, scheduled for September 28 to 30 in Lima, aimed at promoting health tourism and the thermal waters tourism sites.
"We are working to promote these sites to bring tourists everywhere, from China to other countries," Silva told Xinhua.
As part of these efforts, Silva has led several business missions to take part in international shows.
The Peruvian government has taken measure to facilitate visa procedures for Chinese tourists and businessmen to visit the Andean country.
According to official statistics, Peru received 8,586 Chinese tourists in 2011, lower than those of its neighboring countries such as Brazil and Chile.
In 2011, Peru received 2.5 million tourists from all over the world, generating income of more than $3.3 billion.
