Construction sponsored by Citroen on a primary school in the remote town of Fulu in Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region was completed on Nov 9, a day that also marked the beginning of the 2012 Citroen Red Crayon Campaign.
The initiative is the company's most recent effort to improve education for children in China's remote areas.
At a ceremony marking the school's completion, staff members from Peugeot Citroen donated books, sports equipment, laptops and a school bus. Three volunteers also taught pupils basic skills in painting and photography.
Liu Meilan, branding director at Citroen China said that "education in rural and remote areas is in need of support and help".
"In addition to donations, we are trying to stimulate children's creativity and imagination through special art courses."
In 2011, Citroen China founded the Red Crayon Campaign for young people in the country.
Through its concept of "human and creative technology for a better life", Citroen aims to put a human touch on charitable practices and call on more people to join in the campaign to help the needy.
The automaker also cooperated with a French public charity on its "Color of Childhood" activity, a part of Citroen's Red Crayon Campaign in 2011.
