Canada to extend tariffs on Chinese hot-rolled carbon steel plates

Canada will maintain its anti-dumping duties on Chinese hot-rolled carbon steel plates after the expiry of an order made by the Canadian International Trade Tribunal on Jan 9, 2008.

The Canadian International Trade Tribunal, an independent quasi-judicial body that reports to Parliament through the Minister of Finance, said on Tuesday that suspension of the duties would be likely to incur injury and that the Canada Border Services Agency will therefore keep the duties.

The tariff was started by the Canadian International Trade Tribunal in 1997 and extended two times in 2003 and 2008.
