China shares up as panic eases, despite weak PMI data

BEIJING -- Chinese shares edged up Monday as panic over liquidity concern continued to ease, despite the disappointing purchasing managers index (PMI) data.

The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index rose 0.81 percent, or 16.04 points, to end at 1,995.24.

The Shenzhen Component Index added 0.31 percent, or 24.01 points, to 7718.48.
