BEIJING - China Unicom, one of China's three state-owned telecom companies, said Thursday that its net profit in the first half of the year rose 25.8 percent year on year to 6.69 billion yuan ($1.08 billion).
Business revenues rose 3.6 percent from a year earlier to 149.6 billion yuan, according to the company's interim report.
Of it, the company earned a revenue of 127 billion yuan from providing services, up 9 percent on a year-on-year basis.
The company's business structure improved with mobile business and non-voice business accounting for 64.1 percent and 59.5 percent of total service revenue respectively, the report said.
The company said last month that it added 1.71 million new mobile subscribers in June, bringing the total number to 295 million.
